On February 16, the Metropolitan State Traffic Inspectorate in its official Telegram channel urged fans of scooters and unicycles not to rush to use them.
“Although the sun is already shining in the spring, do not rush to use the means of individual mobility. Weather conditions are not safe for scooters, segways, unicycles, etc. “The continued icing of sidewalks and pedestrian areas, as well as warm outerwear, create additional risks,” the ministry said in a statement.
The Moscow traffic police department advised to wait for a steady heat and only then use such gadgets, not forgetting to repeat the skills.
In October 2021, Moscow City Duma Chairman Alexei Shaposhnikov proposed introducing new additional road signs in Russia that regulate the maximum speed of personal mobility aids (SIMs, electric scooters, electric skateboards, gyro scooters, segways, monowheels and other similar vehicles).
On October 10, Izvestia, citing Mobile Research Group, reported that sales of electric scooters in Russia grew 2.7 times over the year – in the first nine months of this year, citizens and kicksharing services bought about 355 thousand of such vehicles. The demand for them was associated with relatively affordable prices, the convenience of moving around a big city and a wide range of these devices. Experts noted that even problems with the safety of such vehicles and the introduction of restrictions that the Ministry of Transport is developing will not stop the growth of the market.
