24h race Nürburgring: Rowe-BMW wins at the Folis Festival of Motorsport

At the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, a power failure caused a more than two-hour interruption. Then there was a gripping duel for victory.

The Rowe-BMW team won the turbulent 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. After a more than two -hour interruption as a result of a power failure on Saturday evening and anger for a protest, Augusto Farfus, Jesse Krohn, Raffaele Marciello and Kelvin van der Linde prevail after 141 laps with a narrow lead. Manthey-Porsche took second place with Kevin Estre, Ayhanancan Güven, Thomas Preining and Patrick Pilet. For BMW it was already the 21st win in this classic.

The start of the race was very bad. After 90 minutes there was an interruption for more than two hours the early Saturday evening. The complete infrastructure including pit lane and tank layers were affected by a power failure. On the four days with racing events, a total of 280,000 spectators came to the course in the Eifel. 134 teams were at the start, for four pilots the motorsport classic ended with various injuries in the hospital. Two drivers of it were so seriously injured that they even had to be flown to the clinic by helicopter.
