Asia instead of Alps: TUI puts on a long -distance travel boom in winter

No snow and high prices in the winter sports areas? TUI introduces new plans – and no longer only relies on the classics.

The world’s largest travel group TUI is organizing its winter program for the coming season and focuses more on long -distance travel. Despite geopolitical uncertainties, Tui Germany boss Benjamin Jacobi said. Interest in Asia is particularly growing.

Thailand is currently one of the most sought -after goals. Among other things, TUI plans new direct flights to Bangkok and Phuket as well as additional hotels. In addition, there are supposed to be round trips in Japan, new accommodations in Malaysia and the first TUI blue hotel in Bali.

At the same time, classic holiday destinations such as Spain, Egypt, Turkey and Portugal were asked across all target groups. According to the company, prices are largely stable – for some long -distance travel destinations such as Australia, Mauritius or the Maldives, even declined slightly.

Growth goals despite the economic worries

When TUI presented the figures for his first business half year in May, the group confirmed its forecast for the current year. According to this, sales are intended to increase by five to ten percent, the operational result (adjusted EBIT) by seven to ten percent. CEO Sebastian Ebel named higher average prices for stable demand as the main driver.

Between October and March, sales rose to around 8.6 billion euros. The seasonal surgical loss last winter decreased by 15 percent to 156 million euros. Hotels and cruises in particular developed positively. The debt was also reduced.
