Deutsche Bahn tests the new high -speed train from Siemens between Erfurt and Halle. The train drives as quickly as possible.

Deutsche Bahn and Siemens tested a new high -speed train from the Munich train builder on the route between Erfurt and Leipzig/Halle. The so -called Velaro Novo reached speeds of around 405 kilometers per hour, as the train announced. This was a record for this route, said a railway spokeswoman. A medium car of the new platform was used in the test. It was pulled by an ICE engine that can achieve this high speeds.

“The test drives provide us with important findings for the renovation and maintenance of quick driving routes as well as the technical development of high-speed trains and thus also benefit passengers,” said the head of the rail infrastructure daughter DB Infraggo, Philipp Nagl. For Siemens, in turn, it is also an important test of the new train technology.

Use in regular operation still open

The Velaro Novo has not yet been used in regular operation. Today’s ICE trains of Deutsche Bahn are based on previous Velaro generations. In which form and when the Novo in Germany comes on the rails is open.

Technically, it is no problem for most ICE trains to drive faster than 300 kilometers per hour. Only the ICE 4 do not create more than 265 km/h. In fact, in view of the short distances between train stations in Germany and the often dilapidated and overloaded rail network, it is rare that the vehicles are traveling so quickly.

The route between Erfurt and Leipzig was put into operation in 2015 and is designed for this pace. The train said that she is still in very good condition. According to the rail spokeswoman, the highest speed there so far was around 333 kilometers per hour.
