Siemens gets AI experts from Amazon

With Vasi Philomess, the Munich-based company gets a new employee known in the tech scene for a rapidly growing area.
Siemens has brought a leading expert from Amazon for his AI applications. On July 1st, Vasi Philomin head of the Data & Artificial Intelligence area, as the Munich -based company reports. Previously, he was Vice President of Generative AI on Amazon.
“The next large development level for AI is in conjunction with the real, physical world: machines, factories and infrastructures that recognize, analyze and act independently,” says Philomess about his change. “Siemens brings unique specialist knowledge and a strong global presence in industry and is therefore well positioned to lead this transformation.”
Philomin brings “a rare combination of deep technical expertise, strategic foresight and remarkable implementation strength,” said Siemens board member Peter Körte. He will “make a decisive contribution to further expanding our data and AI skills” and opening up new innovation potential.
According to Siemens, Philomess belongs more than 100 patents
Before his time at Amazon, Philomin worked for Philips. He did his doctorate in computer science and, according to Siemens, is the owner of more than 100 US patents.
Ki and IT play an increasing role for Siemens over the years. Most recently, the proportion of these business has increased significantly, also thanks to billions of acquisitions. Most recently, the digital business came up with an annual turnover of around 9.1 billion euros.
