The West puts Russia under pressure with sanctions. Moscow creates counter pressure with a capital export ban. Now Russia has also written a German group on the black list.
The Russian government put the German commercial vehicle manufacturer Daimler Truck on a sanction list. The corresponding government decree dates from Friday, but was only released on Monday. After the beginning of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, the West imposed sanctions against Moscow. In response, the Kremlin also created its own sanction list with western companies.
With these, any trade is prohibited. Payment obligations to such corporations are void. What specific consequences the decision for the company was initially unclear. Daimler Truck initially did not comment on this on Monday evening.
Russia does not officially mentions a reason for the inclusion of Daimler Truck in the sanction list. The government newspaper “Rossiskaja Gaseta” reports that the group had delivered truck to the Ukrainian armed forces.
Daimler Truck hired his work in Russia after the start of the war. However, the company was only able to sell its 15 percent of the Russian truck producer Kamaz, who also builds army vehicles in 2024. The sales amount is unknown.
