In this sense, the head of the AFIP Mercedes Marco del Pont He had anticipated months ago that it is necessary to “improve the tax administration and deepen the work carried out in matters of inspection and control of the sectors with the greatest taxing capacity.”
To develop this task, they bet on the use of more and better tools, especially with the support of technology and technical means as allies, capable of improving evasion controls.
For example, AFIP has the “little robot”, as they call the automatic inspection software based on iartificial intelligence. It works automatically and in 2021 was able to achieve 12,900 inspections.
AFIP’s “little robot”
When a debt or suspicion of evasion is detected, AFIP makes the “little robot” run to detect any additional irregularity, through the control and crossing of different databases, where it will look for (if they exist) more inconsistencies.
For example this artificial intelligence software has found evaders with problems in the under-declaration of the value of real estate abroad, undeclared grain settlements or the use of apocryphal invoices.
According to AFIP data, in 2021 this automatic control procedure generated income from $3,413 million in taxes owed. In the last two years, the “little robot” added to the state coffers more than $4.5 billion.
What is interesting is that in the status report, most of these inconsistencies are addressed by taxpayers. They highlight a high level in the response and the requirements of the AFIP to try to settle the debt or the lack of taxes.
In 2021, the extraordinary contribution of taxpayers (the tax on large fortunes) with assets of more than $200 million generated income for more than $238 billion.
According to AFIP data, some 10,600 people complied with the obligation, that is, 80% of the estimated universe. But nevertheless about that remaining 20% it is where the AFIP will focus with the controls and where it will send the “little robot” to stick its nose in and verify if there are one or many inconsistencies.
Satellite image control
Another fact is that around 60% of the amount collected through electronic inspections corresponds to rectifications for undeclared grain settlements and other inconsistencies in the agricultural sector.
For this reason, another of the AFIP’s strategies is to strengthen surveillance of agriculture through the use of satellite images.
With this tool you can buy land, the size of the land used, the type of activity carried out there and the under-declaration of hectares produced or yield.
