Russia puts Daimler Truck on the black list. Only: According to its own statements, the company’s ongoing business does not affect this. Why is that?
According to a company spokesman, Russia’s sanctions against the commercial vehicle manufacturer Daimler Truck do not affect ongoing business. “We no longer have any business activities in Russia,” said the spokesman for the Dax Group from Leinfelden-Echterdingen near Stuttgart.
The Russian government had put Daimler Truck on a sanction list. The corresponding government decree dates from Friday, but was only released on Monday. The company had no indications for Russia’s reasons, said the spokesman.
After the beginning of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, the West imposed sanctions against Moscow. In response, the Kremlin created its own sanction list with western companies. With these, any trade is prohibited. Payment obligations to such corporations are void.
What is the reason for the sanctions?
Russia did not officially give a reason for the inclusion of Daimler Truck in the sanction list. The government newspaper “Rossiskaja Gaseta” reported, however, that the group had delivered truck to the Ukrainian armed forces. The group spokesman confirmed the delivery of military trucks.
Daimler Truck decided immediately after the start of the war of aggression to stop all business activities in and with Russia. The Mercedes-Benz Group was sold in the amount of 15 percent in 2024 in 2024. Daimler Truck had belonged to the Stuttgart Daimler Group until division in 2021.
