The US trade conflict with China also harms the German economy. Now Siemens is one of the beneficiaries of a relaxation signal of the Trump government towards Beijing.
The US government sends a temporary relaxation signal to Beijing in the trade conflict with China – and thus helps Siemens. The Munich technology group confirmed that the U.S. Ministry of Industrial Department has lifted an export control restriction of software and technology for automated chip design (EDA) imposed at the end of May. Siemens has resumed sales and customer service for the Chinese buyers of the relevant products, as a speaker splashed.
Sorry to Chinese customers
The abbreviation EDA stands for “Electronic Design Automation”, according to Siemens website, this is computer programs and hardware that are intended for the development, manufacture and test of integrated circuits (IC), circuit boards and other electronics products. The DAX group had expanded the expertise in this area in the past decade primarily by taking over the US company Mentor Graphics.
The Siemens announcement was connected with an apology towards China: “We thank our customers for their patience in our reaction to the changes in the global trade environment,” said the short statement. “If this resulted in inconvenience, we are extremely regret.”
Export restriction also met US companies
EDA software and hardware at Siemens are part of the important digital industrial business area. The EDA export restriction was related to the disputes that the government of US President Donald Trump leads with China on several levels. This had not only hit Siemens, but also US companies. The Synopsis company based in California also confirmed the cancellation of the limitation in a message.
