Ex-investment banker demands 152 million from Deutscher Bank

The sum is not exactly peanuts for Germany’s largest money: a former employee demands a three -digit million amount. The reason for the lawsuit was years ago.

Deutsche Bank is confronted with a complaint of a former investment banker. In connection with earlier business of the Frankfurt Dax group with the Italian Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena, which ended up in court, the man demands around 152 million euros “for the professional damage suffered from criminal proceedings in Italy and the first instance conviction”, as can be read in the latest German Bank business report.

The Frankfurt Regional Court has set an oral hearing for December 4 (Az.: 2-19 O 153/24). The court confirmed the relevant information from the “Spiegel” on request.

The background to the legal dispute is certain businesses that Deutsche Bank had completed in 2008 with the Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena (MPS) and a subsidiary of the MPS. In this context, five alumni and a then active employee of Deutsche Bank in Italy were sentenced to multi -year prison sentences for aid for falsifying the balance sheet for falsification of the balance sheet. In 2022 there were acquittals for all defendants in an appeal procedure.

Deutsche Bank: complaint unfounded

Deutsche Bank considers the complaint to be negotiated to its former investment banker to be unfounded. In the annual report for the financial year 2024, the money house wrote: “Deutsche Bank considers these claims without any exception. It will vigorously defend itself and allegedly incurred damage in unrealistic amounts such as the compensation required in Germany.”

The institute confirmed this attitude. The lawsuit “is based on incorrect claims against which the bank has defended itself in detail in the legal proceedings and will continue to do so,” said a current statement. “We are confident that the court will reject the lawsuit.”

Another lawsuit by another employee in this context is in preparation according to “Spiegel” information.
