Nestl grew with coffee, Strabag with construction projects

Numerous national and international listed companies presented quarterly and annual figures yesterday, Thursday. An overview:

  • Nestlé: The turnover of the world’s largest food manufacturer increased in the past financial year from the equivalent of 80.5 to around 83 billion euros. The group grew most clearly with coffee products, and price increases also contributed to the plus. The profit climbed by 38 percent to 16.1 billion euros.
  • Strabag: Austria’s largest construction group was not quite able to match the level of 2019 (16.6 billion euros) in 2021 with a construction output of 16.1 billion euros. CEO Thomas Birtel expects the EBIT margin to be six percent. In the long term, four percent should be achieved from 2022.
  • air France-KLM: The Franco-Dutch airline was once again in the red in the second year of the Corona crisis. Compared to 2020, however, the net loss fell by more than half to 3.3 billion euros. Sales were 14.3 billion euros (2019: 27.1 billion euros).
  • Commerzbank: The German money house surprised analysts positively in 2021 with a profit of 430 million euros (after a loss of 2.9 billion euros compared to the previous year). A dividend is to be paid again for 2022. The number of full-time positions is to fall from 39,500 to 32,000 by the end of 2024.
  • Nvidia: The need for chips for artificial intelligence and graphics cards drove the business of the semiconductor specialist in 2021. Sales rose by 61 percent to the equivalent of 23.6 billion euros, profits by 125 percent to 8.57 billion euros. The gaming, data center and visualization divisions achieved record numbers.
