A survey is devoted to wishes, joys and suffering from the work trip. When returning, it becomes heartwarming – but only briefly.
When business travelers choose their accommodation, breakfast depends on them. About half of the morning meals are of great importance, according to a survey on behalf of Travelperk, a platform for travel and cost management. A good sleeping environment, calm job opportunities or good transport links only come behind with values of 43 to 29 percent.
However, the first to do the travelers in their accommodation is not eating. 20 percent shower or at least fresh, 18 percent unpack first, and 16 percent are looking for WiFi and set up the workplace. Contact with family, partners or other loved ones is therefore only in fourth place.
When it comes to the questions of what is the most stressful on business trips and what people are looking forward to when returning, it looks different: being away from loved ones at home, or seeing them again, comes to first place here. Although rather scarce: when returning, for example, anticipation of the people with 55 percent only two points before sleep in their own bed.
Break of domestic and family duties
The sleeping place plays an important role on the pleasant sides of a business trip: 19 percent call a comfortable bed here, 10 percent sleep without interruptions. There are other things at the top of this category: getting to know new places and cultures as well as new people. And 23 percent welcome the break of domestic and family duties when it comes to the question, which also included multiple answers.
“Many employees see business trips as an enrichment: they appreciate new contacts, personal development and change of perspective,” says Travelperk Germany boss Eugen Triebelhorn. “This means that the business trip remains an important lever for individual and entrepreneurial growth.”
Airplane hits the train and car
As a means of transport, the aircraft comes first. It called 85 percent of the 1,000 business travelers surveyed – although multiple answers were possible here. This is followed by the train with 59 percent, 58 percent use a company or rental car, 31 percent of its own car.
The stress level is the lowest among aircraft travelers. 28 percent of the respondents said they were very or somewhat stressed. In the car – there was no differentiation between your own and the company or rental car – it was 39 percent, and 52 percent on the train.
