The weapon industry is booming, and Heckler & Koch also grows and grows. In order for things to continue, Germany’s largest manufacturer of handguns wants to issue millions for new technology and facilities.
The weapon manufacturer Heckler & Koch is launching an extensive investment program. After the company has issued 100 million euros for more modern facilities, a shooting center and a logistics location in the past five years, it should be 150 million euros in the next five years, as the company board at the company’s general meeting announced. It is about technological expansion, strengthening industrial capacity and positioning as a system provider in the defense sector.
System provider means that Heckler & Koch no longer only sells even weapons that are produced by themselves, but offers accessories from suppliers – such as silencer – together with their weapons as a system. H&K recently announced that it would be in the business with a gun gear drone defense and working with a AI company and a vehicle tower manufacturer-this is another example of the extended product portfolio of the Black Forest weapon smithy.
Against the background of the Russian threat, which became stronger with the 2014 Crimea Angelexion and the beginning of the Ukraine War 2022, Heckler & Koch is on a strong growth course, the demand from NATO countries for weapons has increased significantly. HK produces assault rifles, machine guns, grenade launchers and pistols.
Sales attracted 13.9 percent to EUR 343.4 million last year, the profit after tax (EAT) rose by 9.6 percent to 31.5 million euros. The order books are filled: the order intake in 2023 was still 285.3 million euros, so it rose to 426.2 million euros in 2024 – this value has never been so high in the company’s history.
