Sailors threaten to Singapore danger

It’s about the road from Singapore. The international shipping office observes increasing violence on the important trade route.

The security situation on Singapore’s street, an important trade route of international shipping, has deteriorated significantly. 57 attacks and tried attacks from pirates on ships counted the International Shipping Office (IMB) in the first half of the year, as stated in a statement. According to the report, it was 13.

The IMB is based in London and is an organization of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) from Paris. According to the IMB, about a third of the global trade currents are handled via the waterway – between Singapore in the north and Indonesia in the south.

“The increasing incidents on a shipping route that is so important for world trade are extremely worrying,” said ICC General Secretary, Oliver Wieck. Wieck did not comment on the reasons for the development.

Also more incidents worldwide

The security situation of shipping has deteriorated worldwide: 90 attacks and tried attacks counted the IMB in the first half of the year. In 79 cases, pirates were entered by ships. “The risk of crews remains high,” says the message. In the same period last year there were a total of 60 attacks and tried attacks.
