VW defies the difficult car markets – Audi weaker

The largest German car company was able to increase its deliveries slightly in the first half of the year. Stromer in particular also helped and relieved the difficulties at Audi.

Volkswagen is against the difficult car monitor. In the first half of the year, the group delivered 4.4 million cars worldwide – that was 1.3 percent more than a year ago, as VW said. Above all, a boom in electric auto purchases, which increased by 47 percent across the group to 465,500, the Wolfsburgers secured the plus. The core brand cut off even better, but daughter Audi had to accept a decline in his global heels, which was at least steamed by rising electricity registrations.

In China, Volkswagen lost 2.3 percent to 1.31 million deliveries in the first half of the year in the first half of the year, but the trend is positive there, because in the second quarter the group was able to achieve an easy plus by 2.8 percent. In the highly competitive electric car market China, the VW group in the middle of the discount battle of local manufacturers focused on the combustion models, according to a speaker. Although the e-cars in the People’s Republic went downhill by almost a third in the second quarter, VW was able to increase sales as a whole.

In Europe, the group sold a little more cars. This was mainly due to the fact that the paragraph of the pure Stromer was massively increasing there. In the first half of the year there is an increase of 89 percent to 347,000 cars. In addition, the orders of the electric cars in Western Europe attract significantly. In the home market in Germany, too, the group has increased its new electricity registrations in the first half of the year and has now dominated the undisputed.

In the United States, an increase in electric cars helped almost a quarter, but it was only able to dampen the decline in deliveries in North America. They dropped by almost 7 percent to 462,000 in the first half of the year.

Core brand and Skoda clearly in the plus – Audi weaker

The core brand VW car came to an increase of 4.5 percent in the first half of the year and delivered 2.3 million cars. Here, too, BEV sales rose disproportionately, even if not nearly as strong as the foreign daughters Skoda and Seat/Cupra, which each achieved more than doubling. Overall, Skoda also cut off best from all group brands and was able to get almost 14 percent to 509,000 cars. The brand of one million cars is also within reach of one million cars, which was last reached in 2020.

At Audi, on the other hand, it continues to look, the Ingolstadt -based company recorded a minus of 5.9 percent to 783,531 cars. After all: With the pure electric cars (BEVS) it was also uphill: 101,381 deliveries are an increase of 32 percent.

“The positive trend in the BEV deliveries and order inputs clearly shows how well our new BEV portfolio will be received by our customers. At the end of the year we will have the latest portfolio in the premium competition,” emphasizes sales director Marco Schubert.

In contrast, Audi lost a good 10 percent in the most important market in China and was able to sell almost 288,000 cars. Here the electric car numbers even dropped almost a quarter above average. Audi was not even able to deliver 8,000 cars in the world’s largest electric market market. The Ingolstadt residents refer to a “further very intensive competitive situation on site” and hope for the effect of new products in the second half of the year.

In North America – without Mexico – 9 percent went down to almost 99,000 cars. The electric car supplies also dropped here, but a little slower. The current model offensive will only be effective there, it said by Audi.

However, the competition from Mercedes-Benz is no better. For the first half of the year – including Vans – the Stuttgarters have registered a decline from eight percent to 1.08 million cars. She also suffered from a weak China business. BMW has not yet given any numbers.
