No matter what Germany’s consumers are worried about: even saving more and less spending is the answer for many. However, the view of the various herd of crisis has changed.
The people in Germany look at US politics with growing discomfort. Before the presidential election there, it was 13 percent, after Donald Trump’s re -election, the proportion of those (26.7 percent) doubled that answered according to the question of the greatest geopolitical uncertainty.
This is a result of a survey raised several times a year for the direct bank Ing, the latest edition of which 1,000 adults took part in early June. The most important global uncertainty factor is still the war in Ukraine (34.6 percent).
Economic doldrums and increased prices as a permanent burden
In Germany, people take care of two developments in terms of their own financial situation: the general economic situation in Germany and inflation.
Almost 44 percent of those surveyed named the economic situation as the greatest burden. A good 40 percent look at the development of inflation – although the inflation rate has recently declined to 2.0 percent.
Overall, this finding does not speak for the fact that the consumer mood will quickly lighten up again, according to the Ing folk hosts: “Under these circumstances, a quick recovery of the consumer climate is not to be expected-in 2025 there will be no major impulses for economic recovery.”
Many react with fear savings
Regardless of what consumers are worried about: saving more and less spending is the answer for many. According to their own information, 51 percent reduce their expenses among those for whom the general economic situation is in the foreground and almost a third saves more.
