In the course of the investigation, the French General Directorate for Competition, Consumer Protection and Fraud Control (DGCCRF) had the France seat of Nestlé near Paris searched on Thursday.

Nestlé Waters confirmed the searches and explained: “We regret this situation.” Under the supervision of the responsible authorities, the company wants to take measures to ensure that the production conditions are in line with the applicable regulatory framework.

Foodwatch complaint last year

Foodwatch speaks of massive fraud and demands that the responsibilities to the company and the supervisory authorities are uncovered. “The world’s largest food group has illegally filtered water from contaminated fountains and sold it as natural – a clear case of food fraud and maybe also hazardous to health,” said Chris Methmann, managing director of Foodwatch Germany.
