Mineral water: Nestlé gives the all -clear for customers in Germany

Despite the investigation due to inadmissible treatment of Nestlé-Mineralwasser in France, consumers can be reassured in this country in this country. In Germany, no natural mineral water from French production is sold, a spokesman for Nestlé said on request. Accordingly, only the brands San Pellegrino and Acqua Panna that are not affected are sold. The mineral water in France is also harmless, it said.

According to the supermarket chain Rewe and the discounter daughter Penny, they are not affected. Rewe refer to mineral water from Nestlé, but this does not come from France, said a spokesman. He referred to a written confirmation from Nestlé Waters Germany. Penny also does not have the corresponding products in the range. Lidl and Kaufland also emphasized the brands. Aldi stated not to offer mineral water from Nestlé. Edeka did not comment on request.

In the course of the investigation, the French General Directorate for Competition, Consumer Protection and Fraud Control (DGCCRF) had the France seat of Nestlé near Paris searched on Thursday.

Nestlé Waters confirmed the searches and explained: “We regret this situation.” Under the supervision of the responsible authorities, the company wants to take measures to ensure that the production conditions are in line with the applicable regulatory framework.

According to the DGCCRF, the investigation in February was initiated in Foodwatch in Foodwatch regarding Nestlé and Nestlé Waters. In France, mineral water from Nestlé (Perrier, Hépar, Contrex, Vittel) has been in a stir in France. The accusation is that spring water, which at times did not meet the requirements, is said to have been filtered in a manner that is inadmissible for mineral water and is yet said to have been sold as a natural mineral water.

In April, Nestlé CEO Laurent Freixe expressed his regret in April in April. Nestlé Waters did everything to end the contradicted practices. So far, there is no formal investigation.

Foodwatch speaks of massive fraud and demands that the responsibilities to the company and the supervisory authorities are uncovered. “The world’s largest food group has illegally filtered water from contaminated fountains and sold it as natural – a clear case of food fraud and maybe also hazardous to health,” said Chris Methmann, managing director of Foodwatch Germany.
