As reported by INDEC This Tuesday, the industry worked at 58.6% of its maximum potential. The figure exceeded both April 58.3% and 56.8% in May 2024.

The annual increase was fundamentally explained by the basic metal industries and the automotive sector. In the first case, the figure climbed from 61.3% to 67.4%, driven by the highest production of raw steel. For its part, in the automotive industry the percentage rose from the very low 45.5% to 56.8%, following the largest number of units manufactured by the terminals, as detailed by INDEC.
The sector blocks that presented better levels of use of installed capacity were oil refining (73.3%), paper and cardboard (69.3%) and basic metal industries. At the other extreme, those that had the greatest idle capacity were metalworking (46.0%), rubber and plastic products (44.5%) and tobacco products (41.5%).
