Is there a change in mood in Germany through the new coalition? The craft does not see it. Quite the opposite.
Crafts President Jörg Dittrich criticizes the Federal Government’s course and doubts the reliability of the black and red coalition. The President of the Central Association of German Crafts speaks of a loss of trust with a view to the “broken promise” of a reduction in electricity tax. “If a clear commitment is simply collected and announced without any warning or integration of the affected groups, the frustration creates,” said Dittrich of the German Press Agency. “You can’t get trust like light.
Disappointment in the craft
The coalition agreement is ambitious in many places, said Dittrich. However, the implementation is interrupted by the summer break. This is unhappy because this break comes at a time when many people long for changes. “Instead, there is the first disillusionment through the acting of the new government.”
On the one hand, there are concrete, easy -to -implement points in the coalition agreement – such as the abolition of the bonus and extensions of Sunday and holiday employment for bakeries. “This is not implemented,” said the craft president. “On the other hand, there is no initial for all promised electricity tax reduction, but this reduction only remains for industry, the manufacturing trade and now supplemented by agriculture and forestry. This is arbitrary.”
The disappointment about it is great. “And that stays in mind over the summer.” The significant change in mood for the positive, which was predicted by the government until the summer break, has not yet been determined in the craft.
In the coalition agreement, the CDU, CSU and SPD had announced a reduction in electricity tax for everyone to the minimum EU size, albeit with a financing reservation.
The Federal Government’s decision on electricity tax leaves many companies at a loss, said Dittrich. “Of course, they ask themselves the question of the value of political and even written commitments. If everything promised now only applies with reservation, what should they plan? Does this also apply to the bonus or the flexible working hours? Or must it always be expected that the government is sneaking out of promised with the reference:”
Increasing social security contributions and wage costs generated additional cost pressure in the craft. All the more urgent would have been a electricity tax reduction for all companies. “Especially energy-intensive areas such as the textile cleaners that provide hospitals, old people’s and nursing homes with hygienic laundry and have gigantic energy consumption urgently need relief. But for them the electricity tax is not reduced.” There is still clear expectation that the decision on electricity tax will be corrected, emphasized the craft president.
Is the middle class neglected?
Mittelstand and craft currently experienced that they are not in focus in concrete measures, said Dittrich. “This is a signal that gets stuck.” It is about appreciation, but also about priorities and a clear medium -sized business orientation. “The craft takes responsibility for the training, securing skilled workers.
It is about reliability. “Apparently the reliability of the middle class and craft was not considered so urgent. This leaves the impression:” We are probably not so important to politics. “And that shakes trust, but this is the basis of every sustainable economic policy.”
