Does the insolvent get Swedish battery producer Northvolt a new owner soon? According to the insolvency administrator, several interested parties threw their hat into the ring.
Several interested parties from non-Swedish countries want to take over the insolvent battery manufacturer Northvolt. In the meantime, there are binding offers for the company’s bankruptcy estate, as insolvency administrator Mikael Kubu confirmed by the Sverige Radio, Swedish radio. He described the negotiations as a complex, which is why they are expected to continue for a few more weeks. However, he hoped that he would make a binding agreement as soon as possible, said Kubu.
Northvolt had filed for bankruptcy in Sweden in March. Since then, Kubu has been trying to find a buyer for the different parts of the company. According to Sverige Radio, the available offers relate to the Northvolt stem tension for battery cell production in Skellefteå in Swedish and the Northvolt Labs development center in Västerås. So far, Kubu does not want to reveal who the interested parties are and where they come from – but according to the transmitters, they should come from both Europe, North America and India.
It is still unclear how the factory near Heide in Schleswig-Holstein will continue. The German subsidiary Northvolt Germany is an independent society, but as part of the insolvent parent company, it is indirectly affected by the procedure.
