There was a strike several times, negotiating for ten rounds: Now there is an agreement in the tariff conflict between editors and newspaper publishers. A group should particularly benefit.

Unions and newspaper publishers have agreed on a salary plus for daily newspapers. By 2027, salaries in three levels are expected to increase by an average of 10.5 percent, as Verdi announced. “After years of real wage losses, it was high time for a noticeable correction,” says Verdi negotiator Matthias von Fintel. The term is three years and starts retrospectively from last January.

According to Verdi, the tenth tariff round was settled. Most recently, there were always warning strikes, in which the union, according to the union, took part in 36 publishers and editorial offices. “The result would not have been reached without the strikes in the editorial offices from the north to the south,” said Christian Wienzeck, negotiator of the German Journalist Association (DJV).

Employers see signs of appreciation

According to Verdi, young professionals and volunteers in particular should benefit from tariff cleaning. For them, salary growth of an average of 11.5 to 16 percent is planned.

“After long and not simple conversations, this degree means movement on both sides,” said Georg Wallraf, negotiator for the Federal Association of Digital Publisher and Newspaper Publishers (BDZV). The conclusion is a clear sign of appreciation to the editorial offices.
