Travelers from the airline Alaska Airlines need strong nerves and a lot of patience, because their flights are delayed. When it will continue for them is uncertain.
The US airline Alaska Airlines temporarily stopped all flights due to a software problem. As the AFP news agency announced, the computer failure occurred on Sunday evening (local time). The latter affects flight operations, it said. The airline therefore “temporarily interrupted system -wide interruption” of its flights “until the problem has been resolved”. Machines of the subsidiary Horizon Air are also affected.
The US flight inspectorate FAA announced that the company had requested a flight stop for all machines. On the status side of the authority it was indicated that all destinations are affected by the floor stop of the Alaska machines.
Alaska Airlines apologized for the inconvenience and asked the travelers to check their flight status before they go to the airport.
Alaska Airlines last because of broken Boeing in the headlines
According to its website, the Alaska Air Group has a fleet of 325 aircraft, including 238 Boeing 737 and 87 EMBRAER Type 175.
Most recently, Alaska Airlines made the headlines primarily due to problems with airplanes of the US aircraft manufacturer Boeing plagued by security problems. In January 2024, among other things, an Alaska-Airline machine of the Boeing 737 Max 9 type had a serious incident: Shortly after starting in Portland in the US state of Oregon, the aircraft lost part of the cabin wall. The machine then had to reverse and make an emergency landing.
