Large recall
Why you are now leaving your Viano or Vito from Mercedes better

Customers worldwide have been driven by Mercedes for years that are probably not quite safe. The manufacturer now warns. This is how you will find out whether you are affected.

The car maker Mercedes-Benz has called back around 223,000 vehicles worldwide. This emerges from a recall published in the database of the Federal Motor Transport Office (KBA). The VAN models Viano and Vito from the production period from December 2002 to February 2006 are affected. 60,245 vehicles are potentially affected in Germany, it said.

Mercedes found that a module from the Takata company could have been installed when the driver’s air is exchanged, a spokeswoman said. In an accident with a triggering airbag, the gas generator could burst. The airbag would then not have a reserve effect, and there would be a risk of injury for the inmates due to separating gas generators, according to the spokeswoman.

In the KBA recall published on Friday, there is talk of “solving metal fragments” that the occupants could violate.

Mercedes wants to automatically inform its customers

Customers will be notified in writing via their sales organization, the spokeswoman announced. As a remedy, the Airbag vehicles are checked and replaced by the Mercedes-Benz service organization for the affected vehicles of the Airbag. The planned workstation will take around one hour and is free of charge for the owners.
