Only around every and every second employee works in Germany under a collective agreement. Now the Federal Social Minister wants to strengthen collective bargaining.
Companies should have to pay their employees in the future for the federal committee contracts. According to a new draft law of Labor Minister Bärbel BAS (SPD), they should have to grant “working conditions”, as stated in the draft lecturer for a tariff loyalty law. This is available to the German Press Agency.
Such a law has been discussed for decades. The traffic light government had also undertaken a tariff loyalty law, but was not realized primarily because of the reservations of the FDP. There have been corresponding regulations in the federal states for a long time.
“Incentive for more tariff binding”
BAS said in Berlin: “In order for more employees to benefit from collective agreements, we send a strong signal with the Bundesariftrue law: Orders from the federal government should only be awarded to companies if they guarantee tariff standards.” The SPD politician spoke of an “incentive for more tariff binding”.
BAS recalled the special fund infrastructure. “Many public orders are then awarded for the modernization of bridges, hospitals, school buildings.” It is now clear: “We are putting a stop with tax money with tax money.”
Government decision for summer planned
The tariff loyalty law, which Bas’ department, together with the Ministry of Economic Affairs under Katherina Reiche (CDU), is to be adopted in the cabinet in August and in the course of the year in the Bundestag.
