The Ministry of Economy formalized on Wednesday the beginning of the privatization process of the state company Belgrano Cargas AND LOGISTICS SAwhat will be divided into three business units and then dissolvedas established by the Resolution 1049/2025published in the Official Gazette with the signing of the holder of the portfolio, Luis Caputo.
Privatization will include three clearly differentiated segments: rolling material, railway corridors, and building infrastructure and workshops. In principle the rolling material will be topped.
The operation will be carried out by the Temporary Executing Unit “Public Business Transformation Agency”, together with the Ministry of Transportation, and It must be completed within a maximum period of twelve months.
As established by the resolution, the National State will organize public auctions to sell the company’s rolling materialwhile railway corridors and building assets (real estate, land and workshops) will be awarded through public tenders, with national and international participation.
The one produced by the sale of the rolling material will be deposited in a fiduciary account of the transport infrastructure trust, whose opening was instructed to the Bank of the Argentine Nation. This trust will serve as an instrument to finance future rail works on the concessioned roads and channel state contributions linked to use contracts. All procedures will be developed through the auction and contracting ophthe platforms.
With these measures the State will cease to be a railway operator of cargo transport and all infrastructure such as rolling material, The roads, workshops and surrounding real estate. It is also important to emphasize that the land and roads will continue to be the property of the State as they reverse at the end of the concession.
Privatization of Belgrano charges: what will the process be like
In the case of the roads and real estate to concession, a ongoing works surveywith the objective of order priorities. The Ministry of Transport will have the power to terminate those contracts that are not considered priorityas part of the reorganization prior to the call for tender.
Also, the Railway workshops of the lines Belgrano, San Martín and Urquiza will be subject to concession of use. To do this, we will proceed to invent tools, machinery and other technical assets, and the conditions for its transfer will be established.
Once the sales and concession stages have been completed, the process will culminate with the definitive dissolution and liquidation of Belgrano Cargas y Logística SA The measure is implemented in compliance with the Law 27,742which enables the Executive Power to privatize various state companies.
Finally, the resolution empowers the Legal and Administrative Secretariat of the Ministry of Economy to perform the necessary contractual adjustments to guarantee the development of the process. All decisions must have the participation of the Temporary Special Executing Unitwhich will centralize technical and legal coordination.
