Building with finished parts is considered a possible approach to keep the construction costs within the framework. The private builders have also held back in the construction sounds.
The weak economy at the construction also met the prefabricated houses last year. According to the Federal Statistical Office, around 16,900 residential buildings were built in the finish building in 2024. The decline compared to the year before was 15.5 percent and was weaker than in conventional housing, which had to cope with a decrease of 23 percent.
Overall, more than every fifth residential building that was completed in 2024 was prefabricated in the factory. The largest share of 85.1 percent accounts for 14,300 ready-made industrial houses. Fewer houses of this type were last built in 2014.
However, prefabricated houses improved their price advantage last year. They only became 0.5 percent more expensive, while construction costs rose by 2.9 percent in conventional residential buildings. Nine out of ten prefabricated houses are built by private households.
