An oversight that could have bad consequences: In some doses with the imprint of an energy drink brand, an alcoholic drink was filled in production.
Anyone who reaches a can of the energy drink manufacturer Celsius in the United States should be on the hat. Instead of the drink with “Blue Raspberry” taste, it could be something else in it.
Apparently there was a confusion of two products. A packaging service provider filled vodka mix drinks from the manufacturer High Noon in doses, which were provided with the energy drink letter from Celsius. The mistake noticed when High Noon was cleverly clever Celsius cans. The beverage manufacturer then initiated a recall campaign for both brands.
How many cans are affected is unclear
According to the recall on the website of the US life and drug authority, FDA are affected. “The consumption of the liquid in these doses leads to unintentional alcohol absorption,” it says. So far, however, no health problems have been known in connection with the error.
Nevertheless, the consumption of drinks from the affected batches could lead to unpleasant surprises – for example in young people who are not yet allowed to drink alcohol. The affected doses were delivered to several US states. It was “two small batches,” said a spokeswoman for High Noon. However, she could not provide any information about the exact number.
Politicians also swear by energy drinks
In a statement, Celsius, in turn, emphasized that it was not involved in the confusion: “It’s all about aluminum doses with our print.” Nevertheless, the incident is taken seriously, the company from Florida said, and will examine it.
Customers can check their energy drink doses based on the printed barcodes and return them to the sales outlets. According to the “New York Times”, Celsius’ highly caffeinated drinks are also popular with people in top positions who want to master long working days-among other things with tech managers, investment banks and politicians. The products of the beverage manufacturer have not yet been available in Germany.
