The train traffic on the railway line between Berlin and Hamburg was discontinued in the evening due to a comprehensive renovation for the next nine months. The last long-distance and regional trains should be on the route until shortly before 9 p.m.



A railway spokesman said in the evening that the last train (RB 14) had arrived in Berlin-Spandau. Everything is now off the track, now the construction work could begin. The official starting signal for the modernization project on the busy corridor had already given Philipp Nagl in the afternoon.

In the next nine months, 165 kilometers of tracks and almost 250 course are to be renewed. 28 train stations along the 278 -kilometer corridor are modernized according to the train. Six signal boxes are to be rebuilt and another 19 renewed.

During this time, the ICE and IC trains are diverted via Stendal and Uelzen. You only drive once an hour instead of every 30 minutes and take an average of around 45 minutes longer. Regional traffic is completely canceled on many connections. Instead, replacement buses drive. They also drive less frequently and take longer.
