Trump calls for the resignation of the Intel boss

The new boss LIP-BU TAN has just given a course for the way out of the crisis at the necessary chip group Intel. But now there is new unrest: the US President wants him to go immediately.

US President Donald Trump demands the immediate resignation of Intel boss Lip-Bu Tan after an American senator has accused the chip manager too much to China. Intel had only lifted the 65-year-old in the chief position in March after months of search. The industry veteran put on the red pencil at the troublesome Intel Group and also gave up the billion plans for the construction of a factory in Magdeburg.

Lip-Bu Tan previously led the chip developer Cadence. The Republican Senator Tom Cotton now pointed out that Cadence under his leadership has illegally sold products to a military university in China and passed on technology to a Chinese company. There are also reports that Lip-Bu Tan controls “dozens of” companies in China. Cotton called for an answer from the Intel Board of Directors to mid-August.

Trump: Resignation only solution

Trump now wrote to his online platform Truth Social, Lip-Bu Tan has conflicts of interest and must resign immediately. “There is no other solution for this problem.” At first there was no reaction from Intel.

Intel once dominated the chip industry, but then fell back. A crucial moment was the lost fight for the place in smartphones. Intel hoped to transfer the strength in the PC business to the mobile devices – but more powerful processors prevailed. Smartphone chips do not come from Intel, but from competitors such as Qualcomm or TSMC. And with chip systems for artificial intelligence, Nvidia leads at a large distance.
