The consumption of meat in Argentina grew 4.6% per year and reached 114 kilos per inhabitant

With 114 kilos per inhabitant in the last year, the consumption of meat showed a rise in the country. The sector managed to supply the domestic market and increase exports currencies by 11%.

In June, Argentina registered sustained growth in the per capita consumption of bovine, swine and avian meats, in accordance with a report prepared by the National Livestock Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, based on data from INDEC, Senasa and Customs.

ANDThe mobile average of the last 12 months – average since June 2025 – reached a total consumption of meats of 114.06 kilos per inhabitant, which represents an increase of 4.6% compared to the same period of 2024, when the figure was 109.06 kilos. According to the agricultural portfolio, this increase reflects not only a recovery of purchasing power, but also a Greater response capacity in the productive sector and a better population access to quality proteins.

In the breakdown by type of meat, The bovine led the growth with an increase of 5.6% year -on -year, reaching 50.24 kilos per inhabitant, which is equivalent to additional 2.66 kilos compared to last year. Swine meat showed the highest rate of percentage expansion: 17.92 kilos per inhabitant (+7.7%, equivalent to 1.28 kilos more). Meanwhile, the consumption of aviar meat reached 45.90 kilos per inhabitant, with a rise of 2.4% (1.06 additional kilos).

Vaccine meat: Increase in supply

The report also highlights that this increase in internal offer was not achieved at the expense of the external market. On the contrary, meat exports generated a 11% more currencies than in the same period of 2024, which translates into additional 150 million dollars. “This demonstrates the commitment of all the links of the Canal Chain, which managed to supply the domestic market and, at the same time, fulfill and even expand export commitments,” they said from the Ministry of Agriculture.
