After winning in justice a long dispute with the truck drivers’ guild, the founder of Mercado Libre released a wink to the autonomous trucks, reviving the debate on the future of transport and the “logistics uberization” in Argentina.
Marcos Galperin, Co -founder and historical leader of Mercado Libre, turned on the controversy on social networks again. The post, made on Network X, arrives after the favorable ruling that ended a dispute initiated in 2019, when truck drivers claimed the union framing of 1,200 employees of the free market distribution center in La Matanza. The guild denounced that the agreement with the Union of Cargo and Download Workers (UTCYDDA) was “flexible” and had been approved expressly during the government of Mauricio Macri.
In September 2024, a labor judge dismissed the presentation of the guild against the agreement. In March 2025, the National Chamber of Labor Appeals ratified the validity of the Collective Agreement, rejecting the challenge of the National Federation of Truckers and the truck driver union.

Galperin’s wink to truck technology without a driver seems to anticipate a new chapter in the dispute, not only with truckers, but with transport unions in general. The so -called “logistics uberization” – concept promoted by entrepreneurs such as Gustavo Grobocopatel – raises a more flexible, efficient and environmentally friendly model, which could lead to a greater robotization of transport.
