Number of tourists reaches record level
Tourism in Germany is heading for another record. In June, the number of overnight stays also rose without the football fans.
Vacation and business trips in Germany are in demand than ever. Despite a sunken demand from abroad, hotels registered and other larger accommodation companies in the first half of this year 223.3 million overnight stays and thus 0.1 percent more than in the previous maximum value in the record year 2024. The Federal Statistical Office reports.
The fact that 12.7 percent fewer guests came from abroad in June alone attribute the statisticians to the particularly high number from the previous year when the European Football Championship attracted fans from all countries. The gap was more than balanced by overnight stays by domestic people (+7.4 percent). The late Pentecost break worked here.
The bottom line was that the guests spent 50.5 million times in the companies mentioned in June with at least ten beds. That was 3.8 percent more overnight stays than a year earlier.
