Armaments company Renk: Could handle delivery stop to Israel

The decision to no longer deliver certain armaments to Israel has caused a violent political debate. Now the industry is speaking up.

In the controversy around a German export stop for certain armaments to Israel, the Augsburg armaments supplier Renk is considering avoiding a delivery freezer. Company boss Alexander Sagel told the “Financial Times” that there was a “Plan B” who provides for the production of driven for Israeli tanks to the USA.

From a German perspective, the company “has the responsibility to ensure that Israel can maintain its deterrence,” Sagel is quoted by the FT. “This is not only necessary in Gaza, but also at other limits.” Sagel did not provide any information on how many gearboxes are possible for Israel.

Chancellor Friedrich Merz had announced that for the time being, no exports of armaments were approved that could be used in the Gaza War.
