Richard Lutz as much deserved as a train manager

After more than eight years, Richard Lutz has to vacate his position as the head of the railway. Federal Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder (CDU) fired the 61-year-old as CEO of Deutsche Bahn. However, Lutz should stay in office until a successor is found.

Lutz has been a member of the railway board since 2010, and he has been CEO since 2017. In this function, the Palatinate native has received a million dollar content. However, the amount of the remuneration of the train manager depends heavily on bonus payments – so -called “Variable remuneration “. These are due if the company achieves certain previously agreed goals. As a result, income as a railway chief varies relatively strongly.

Railway chief Richard Lutz benefited from Boni

According to the official train information, Richard Lutz came up with an annual earnings of EUR 2.1 million last year. His fixed salary was 1.4 million euros, which corresponds to a monthly salary of more than 110,000 euros. In addition, there were bonuses of almost 700,000 euros.

The head of the railway should have saved the shame

Severance is likely to be in the millions

According to the Federal Ministry of Finance from 2022, the train leader is the best paid board boss of all federal companies or institutions. His bonuses are made up of short and long-term goals. The short -term objectives include the punctuality rate in the year. Long -term targets relate, for example, to climate protection and sustainability.

Especially with punctuality, it went downhill under Richard Lutz, and the train is not good economically either. As a consequence, the railway boss has to vacate its post. But Lutz should fall soft. There is no official information about his severance payment yet, but this is likely to be in the millions – if only because Lutz actually still has a contract until 2027. Rüdiger Grube, the predecessor of Richard Lutz, received 2.25 million euros in severance pay after a little more than six and a half years.
