Passenger Association proposes successor to train chief

The departure of railway chief Lutz is a necessary signal from the perspective of the passenger association Pro Bahn. The association has a specific personnel proposal for the successor.

From the perspective of the Pro Bahn passenger association, the next train manager should come from the traffic sector and know the railway system in Germany. “And it should be someone who has not been in the railway group forever and three days,” said the Federal President of the Association, Lukas Iffländer, the German Press Agency.

Iffländer proposed the current managing director of the Hamburg Transport Association HVV, Anna-Theresa Korbutt, as the successor to rail director Richard Lutz. Korbutt could be ordered and, for example, represented significant positions in the debate about the financing of the Germany ticket.

Iffländer: “Crusted structures” break open

It is important that the new board of directors or the new boss will get a good team around them. This is the only way to break up the crusted structures in the group, in which innovative approaches are often infiltrated or blocked. “If you only exchanged your top head, it will bring little,” emphasized Iffländer. People needed people who tidy up in the company and ensured that those who were blocked had no power. Nevertheless, there could certainly be an internal solution.

Minister of Transport wants clarification by September 22nd

On Thursday, Federal Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder (CDU) announced that the contract of the previous CEO would be terminated prematurely. Lutz is in office until the successor is regulated. In the best case, Schnieder wants to clarify the question until September 22nd. For this day, he has announced a new strategy for the crisping rail system in Germany.

Iffländer advocates the premature end of Lutz. It is a necessary signal for the break with the previous approaches. Nevertheless, he emphasized that the change of personnel at the head of the railway would change little at short notice in the company’s operational and financial crisis.
