The black and red coalition plans great investments to boost the economy. From the perspective of many citizens, the reduction in bureaucracy is even more important than government money.
In order to boost the stagnant economy, the federal government should reduce bureaucracy from the perspective of many Germans and implement infrastructure programs faster. This is shown by the results of a representative survey by the opinion research institute YouGov on behalf of the German Press Agency.
Less documentation and reporting obligations
The more than 2,000 participants in the survey had been asked which measures the federal government in their opinion should be implemented in order to promote economic growth. 37 percent of them opted for the response variant “Bureaucracy and reporting obligations for companies”.
Every fourth respondent (25 percent) believes that more speed in implementing already planned infrastructure programs could help. Twelve percent of those surveyed spoke in favor of a savings course in the federal budget. Seven percent believe that funding programs could generate more growth for certain industries.
Six percent consider other measures to be useful. Four percent of those surveyed think that none of these measures will help. Nine percent did not dare to judge the question.
Stagnation and structural problems
The German economy has long been in a phase of stagnation with structural weaknesses. For 2025 and 2026, the new federal government relies on infrastructure investments with a focus on traffic, digitization, climate neutrality and support for countries in education and childcare.
