What training is the best? A ranking of the DGB shows clear differences. Overall, according to unions, training in Germany is not sufficient for skilled workers.
Prospective hairdressers, cooks and chefs, merchants, sellers and hotel experts are least satisfied with the quality of their training. According to their own statements, there are sometimes well below two thirds of this trainee. In other areas – for example with tax clerks, electronics agents and specialists – it is over 80 percent. This emerges from a new DGB training report.
Overall, the starting situation for training seekers was a little less favorable than in 2023. 468,700 training contracts, according to the report 2024, which corresponds to a decrease of 0.5 percent. At the same time, the demand for young people has increased slightly by 0.8 percent to 557,100 after training. Every eighth searcher went away empty -handed.
DGB calls for more training
The deputy DGB chairwoman Elke Hannack called for more efforts against the years of trendy declining training positions. The Federal Government asked Hannack to implement the announced relief for the economy for electricity tax so that the money could be invested in training positions. It is necessary to help the companies in the future to cover the need for skilled workers through training. “That is why the training guarantee must be expanded.”
Non -training tasks
Despite minimal progress, there would continue to be problems in the non -training activities, according to the DGB. 14.7 percent of the respondents always have to take on tasks that have nothing to do with their training – like cooking or cleaning coffee. DGB Federal Youth Secretary Kristof Becker said: “For the trainees, it simply means that they lack time for the actual training content.” This endangers their conclusion.
