How suitable for everyday use are electric cars? E-car drivers answer it very differently than drivers without experience with electricity.
Loading points, reach, comfort: People without experience with electric cars evaluate their everyday suitability, according to a survey, worse than e-car drivers. This emerges from a YouGov survey on behalf of the German Press Agency. According to this, 80 percent of those surveyed who own or have already used one stated that vehicles of this drive type were suitable for everyday use or more suitable for everyday use. Only 45 percent agreed among the respondents who do not have an electric car and have not yet driven.
When asked about individual criteria, fears and experiences are less far apart. While 59 percent of the respondents without an e-car experience assume a lack of public charging points, every second electric car driver (52 percent) also gave this as a problem. A similar picture is too small when it comes to the topic: 61 percent of those surveyed without e-car experience would expect this disadvantage, while 55 percent of electric car drivers also had such experiences.
Overall, the respondents perceive an improved image of the type of drive. 42 percent stated that the call of the electric drive had improved or improved somewhat in the past five years. Almost every fourth (23 percent) perceives a deterioration.
2,006 people of the YouGov panel were interviewed between last Tuesday and Thursday. The survey is therefore representative of the resident population in Germany aged 18 and over.
