New direct connections and more night trains: From December, rail and PKP Intercity will offer additional trips between Germany and Poland.
Deutsche Bahn and the daughter of the Polish State Railways PKP Intercity offer additional connections between the two countries in December. “In the future, travelers will be available to 17 instead of currently eleven direct connections (returning and return trip),” said both companies. The corporations reacted to the significantly increased demand for travel connections between the two countries.
As of December 14th there will be a new connection between Leipzig, Breslau and Krakow with two trains per day and direction. For travelers from Munich, Nuremberg or Frankfurt, the travel time to southern Poland should reduce around two hours.
Further daily connection between Warsaw and Berlin
Another daily connection will be set up between Warsaw and Berlin in the future. In total, seven pairs of trains are on the way every two hours.
According to the railways, a new night train between Berlin and Przemysl on the Polish-Ukrainian border is also planned and between Berlin and Chelm via Lodz and Warsaw. “A second border town to Ukraine is directly connected,” it said. The existing night train connection Munich-Warschau is therefore given additional cars that are supposed to run between Munich, Krakow and Przemysl.
