The Government formalized the increases in gas and electricity that govern since September

The Government officialized from this September 1 the new Increases in gas and electricity rateswith impact on households and shops both in the Metropolitan Area of ​​Buenos Aires (AMBA) as in the rest of the country. The measures were approved by the National Electricity Regulatory Entity (ENRE) and the National Gas Regulatory Entity (Enargas), through different resolutions published in the Official Gazette, within the framework of the monthly update defined by the Ministry of Economy.

Electricity increases: how much is the rise for September

In the case of electricity, the final increase in invoices will be 2.97% for Edenor and 2.90% for Edesur compared to August. The rise results from two components: an update of 2.54% in the own distribution cost (CPD), calculated according to the indices of wholesale and retail prices of INDEC; and the transfer to users of the new seasonal values ​​of wholesale energy, set by the Ministry of Energy for September and October.

The impact on the tickets also depends on the level of socioeconomic segmentation: lHigh income users (level 1) pay full rate, while low -income (level 2) and media (level 3) maintain consumer bonuses and stops.

The tariff scheme also incorporates a Average increase in added distribution value (VAD)which represents the entry of Edenor and Edesur for operating and maintaining the networks, together with the surcharge of the National Electric Power Fund (FNEE) and wholesale prices without subsidy.

The update is framed in the official gradual reduction policy of subsidies to the energy sector, promoted by the Ministry of Economy.

Gas rises: how much will increase in September

With regard to natural gas, the New Tariff Tables for Metrogas users. The adjustment contemplates modifications in the distribution margins and reflects the gas prices defined by the Ministry of Energy within the framework of the Gas.ar.

The Enargas said that the resolution included corrections of material errors in previous inputs, which resulted in a readjustment of the income requirement for the distributor. In addition, the monthly update replaces the semiannual scheme, allowing continuous adjustments according to the formula validated by the agency and the concessionary companies.

The Metrogas ballots must detail the price of gas, applied subsidies and lower income household bonuses. The published technical annexes define values ​​by user category, consumption levels, fixed and variable charges, rates for subdistributors and additional costs such as reconnection or technical inspections.

Last week, economy formalized an increase in 6.8% in the surcharge that affects almost two thirds of natural gas users by networks. This measure is intended to finance the discounts received by those who live in cold areas of Argentina. In some regions, the percentage will be even higher.

Until July, the surcharge in the final invoices was 6.6% on the gas component (pist). The 6.8% rise will begin to govern in August, consolidating the sequence of settings that started at 5.44% earlier, climbed to 6% in April, 6.2% in June and 6.4% at the beginning of July, during the supply crisis, reaching 6.6% on the closure of last month. This is the fifth increase in seven months, in a context of fiscal restriction.

AUCTIONS IN THE PROVINCE OF BUENOS AIRES

At the same time, the increase in electric rates for the province of Buenos Aires approved by resolution 861/2025 was published in the Official Gazette. This increase includes the transfer of wholesale prices defined by Nation as of August and an adjustment of the value added value (VAD), the impact on the final invoice will be an average of 1.5% on the final invoice for residential users.

In that sense, for example, A residential user N1 (high income) with a half consumption will pay $ 40,270/month to pay $ 40,900/month. While an N2 user (low income) paid $ 25,700/month and will now pay $ 26,100/month.

The increase, which moves from tomorrow to the tariff cadres, will be reflected in the consumption of the month of August and September and will impact the invoices that users will receive between September and October.
