Vote at Cologne Ford works – result on Friday

In 2023 the last Ford-Fiesta ran off the assembly line, then the Cologne Ford plants switched to electric cars. But the success is limited, the company should make a savings course profitable again.

About every fourth place should be omitted: The plans for the drastic job cuts at Ford come into a crucial phase. After negotiators of the company and IG Metall agreed on key data in July, the more than 10,000 union members who work for Ford can now decide in a pre -vote whether they agree to the austerity course.

From Tuesday to Thursday, the eligible voters could vote on the workshops or send them back by post until Friday, an IG Metall spokesman said in Cologne. The count is then counted on Friday and the result is announced – the consent is necessary so that the job reduction plans are implemented.

The WDR had previously reported. The dispute over the job cuts had grown for a long time and led to the first strike at Ford Cologne in May, and work in the works was resting for a day. Later, however, the tariff parties approached and found a compromise that is now to be voted.

2,900 jobs in Cologne should be omitted

Ford Cologne plans to reduce 2,900 jobs from the currently around 11,500 jobs by the end of 2027. Whoever works should get severance payments. Partial retirement is also possible. Ford is under pressure, the sale of two new electric car models from Cologne has not yet been a success story.

The IG Metall had warned of the horror scenario of bankruptcy after the US mother ended a so-called patronage declaration and the German daughter inevitably became more independent: the mother no longer stood for the daughter’s debt due to the end of the patronage declaration. So far, a bankruptcy of Ford has been pure theory. Most recently, the sales of Ford car in Germany attracted.
