VW works council calls for Blumes withdrawal from Porsche-Spitze
He is at the top of two DAX companies: Porsche and VW boss Oliver Blume. Shareholders have long been a thorn in the side. Now the VW works council is also calling for an end to the double role.
The VW works council increases the pressure on CEO Oliver Blume to give up its double role as a Porsche and VW boss. At the works meeting in Wolfsburg, works council chief Daniela Cavallo asked him to withdraw from the Porsche tip. “The CEO in Wolfsburg cannot be a half-day boss and spend the rest of the time with Porsche. This condition has to end!”, She is quoted in a VW internal report in the intranet that is available to the dpa.
Shareholder representatives have long been demanding that Blume give up one of his two chief posts. The manager has been at the top of Porsche and VW for three years – and is therefore the boss of two DAX companies. During the collective bargaining dispute a year ago, Cavallo had expressed significant criticism. Blume himself has repeatedly rejected the criticism, but finally admitted: “The double role is not put on forever.”
Speculation about searching for successors
New food had recently received speculation through media reports, according to which Porsche apparently started looking for a successor. Flower should then focus on the management of the VW group, reported, among other things, the “Wirtschaftswoche”. Spokesman for Porsche and Volkswagen had initially not commented on this.
Blume has been running Porsche since 2015 and also retained this position after he replaced Herbert Diess as CEO at Volkswagen seven years later.
