The price of Brent oil on the London ICE exchange reached $101.8 per barrel for the first time since September 2014. This is on Thursday, February 24, according to trading data.

As of 7:38 Moscow time, the price of April futures for Brent crude rose by 5.1% to $101.8 per barrel. At the same time, earlier in the course of trading it reached $100.01. May futures at 6:48 Moscow time rose by 2.8%, but to $96.71.

April futures for WTI grew in price by 5.5% to $96.97 per barrel.

Earlier, on February 23, Alfa Capital portfolio manager Dmitry Skryabin said that Europeans were expecting a sharp increase in gas prices against the backdrop of sanctions against Russia. He also drew attention to the fact that the price of oil will reach at least $150 per barrel. According to Skryabin, the risks associated with sanctions against Russia could exacerbate the energy crisis in Europe.

At the same time, the expert added that the high price of energy resources is unprofitable for the United States as well. The analyst assured that such circumstances are one of the most significant factors in accelerating inflation.
