Four new VW electric cars-market launch from 25,000 euros planned

VW presents four new electrical models from three group brands on the IAA Mobility. You should score especially with the price.

Favorable models, less design experiments, more familiar model names: Before the start of the IAA Mobility’s auto show, the VW Group shows how the initiative should succeed in the electrical entry segment in the coming year. Two days before the official start of the exhibition, the manufacturer presented the four new e-models from VW, ŠKODA and Cupra at its booth, which are to be launched in the coming year, including the ID. Polo, which should start at prices from just under 25,000 euros. According to the announcement, CEO Oliver Blume spoke of “a clear focus on e-mobility”, according to the preliminary depreciation at the booth.

The four new e-models at the fair can still be seen slightly or only as a study. The real world premiere of the ID. Polo should only take place in May, the sale will start in autumn 2026. All four sister models are built in Spain for cost reasons. In 2027, an even cheaper model with the working title ID. EVERY1 for around 20,000 euros follow, as the successor to the VW Up, which was hired in 2023. It is built in Portugal.

With the new models in the lower price segment, VW plans to give the sales of its e-models. The group needs a high electrical share to be able to meet the EU CO2 fleet destinations of the EU. Otherwise there are high penalty payments.

In the first half of the year, the e-car content was eleven percent across the group. Compared to the previous year, VW was able to increase battery cars by 47 percent, and even by almost 90 percent in Europe. According to its own statements, the VW group is a clear market leader in the electric cars with a 28 percent market share. The group sells almost 466,000 electric cars worldwide from January to July, with a total of 4.41 million deliveries.

With the ID now shown. Polo is the series version of the study shown two and a half years ago. The length of 4.05 meters corresponds almost exactly to the combustion polo, and the group has also been more oriented towards the combustion engine than for the previous ID models. VW promises an electrical range of up to 450 kilometers and 226 hp in the sporty GTI version. In the entry -level version for 25,000 euros, however, there should be a smaller battery with less reach.

With the new models, the core brand VW also says goodbye to the previous numbers in the model names of its electric cars. Instead of ID.3, 4 or 5, they should be called the combustion engines again in the future, starting with ID. Polo and ID. Cross as an electric version of the t-cross combustion. This means that the cars “finally have real names again,” said brand boss Thomas Schäfer.
