According to Verdi, in two rounds of negotiations there was no agreement for the around 25,000 security forces at airports nationwide. The union calls for warning strikes.
In the collective bargaining dispute for aviation security forces, the Verdi union is calling for warning strikes at Frankfurt Airport.
Employees who work in freight control and aircraft security, for example, should stop working at Germany’s largest airport from Friday morning, Verdi said in Berlin. The warning strike should therefore begin at 6 a.m. and end again on Saturday morning at 6 a.m.
According to Verdi, there was no agreement in two rounds of negotiations for the around 25,000 security forces at airports nationwide. The Federal Association of Aviation Security Companies (BDLS) made an offer. However, this is “far below expectations”. Further strikes cannot be ruled out.
«The offer does not take up the price development in any way and contains zero months, criticized negotiator Wolfgang Pieper. Negotiations would continue in Berlin on March 1 and 2.
Verdi is demanding a wage increase of at least one euro per hour for the aviation security forces for a period of twelve months. In addition, the salaries of baggage and staff inspectors are to be raised to the level of those employed in passenger screening. The union is also demanding a nationwide uniform fee for aircraft security and boarding pass control personnel.
The BDLS criticized that Verdi was demanding increases of up to 40 percent per hour from an industry that had been hit hard by the Corona crisis. Air traffic is also likely to face further massive restrictions with the Ukraine war.
