Train and the federal government decide order in the event of corridor renovation

In order to become more punctual, the railway is currently modernizing very busy rail corridors. The order of the approximately 40 routes was recently adjusted again. Now the federal government also gave the green light.

The modernization of busy but outdated railway lines will continue until the 2030s. The railway has now coordinated the current order of the planned 42 corridors in the so -called high -performance network with the federal government, as the group announced. Accordingly, the last renovation of the Flensburg-Hamburg route will not be carried out until 2036.

“In the coming year, the general renovations of the Corridorehagen – Wuppertal – Köln, Nuremberg – Regensburg, Obertraubling – Passau, Troisdorf – Funkel/Unkel -Wiesbaden will be carried out in terms of schedule. “For the year 2027, the bundled renewal and modernization of the corridorerosenheim – Salzburg, Lehrte – Berlin, Bremerhaven – Bremen and Fulda – Hanau is intended.”

Routes completely closed for around half a year

Originally, the railway and the federal government wanted to renovate the corridors by 2031. It is about heavily burdened and due to their poor condition, particularly troubleshooting nodes in nationwide long -distance transport. The so -called general renovations started last year on the Riedbahn between Frankfurt and Mannheim. The modernization work between Hamburg and Berlin and between Emmerich and Oberhausen in North Rhine-Westphalia are currently running.

For the construction work, the routes are fully blocked for around half a year. For this purpose, the sections should remain construction -free for at least five years. Up to nine renovations were originally planned per year. In particular, the plan was rejected by the competitors in freight transport because the freight trains often have to accept significantly further detours during the closures than the passenger trains. In July, the railway was therefore voted for a new concept with the industry and now also with the federal government.
