There are reports on alleged problems with pension payment on the Internet. Pension insurance clarifies the situation.
The German pension insurance warns of false reports on internet portals and on social media for allegedly lacking pension payments. The news is currently circulating that pension payments would remain from October because a new EU directive will be introduced. “This message is a false claim!”, Ends the pension insurance.
The background is an EU payment directive PSD3 (Payment Services Directive 3) introduced from October to make fraud more difficult. Minimum institutions must check whether an IBAN account number matches the name of the payee exactly.
German pension insurance clarifies
However, companies or authorities can decide whether they have to make an IBAN name test.
“Pension recipients are not affected by this examination, because the German pension insurance has decided as part of the intended opt-out procedure to forego the IBAN name test during the pension payments,” explains the pension fund. As usual, the pensions would be transferred from October, even if there were minor deviations in the name.
