Three unions in air traffic want to cooperate more closely in the future. Among other things, the new alliance “We Are Aviation” wants to campaign for better working conditions for employees.
The three specialist unions in air traffic want to expand their cooperation. For this purpose, the employee union in air traffic (AGIL), which is responsible for the soil staff, and the independent flight attendant organization (UFO) for the cabin staff and the Association of Cockpit (VC) for the cockpit personnel form an alliance with the common name “We are aviation”. The aim is a close cooperation, “to develop a strong common voice” with a view to central topics that affect all employees, the unions said.
Forces bundle with a view to the challenges of the industry
“Without us, no plane takes off. All three groups – cockpit, cabin and floor – need it so that the operational business of an airline works,” said Andreas Pinheiro, President of the Cockpit Association. Therefore, it is so important that you get closer together and bundle the forces. The UFO chairman Joachim Vázquez Citizens added that in view of major challenges in aviation, alliances are “more important than ever”. It is about sustainable developments in the industry and good working conditions for all employees.
According to Thorsten Beißner, CEO of Agil, the collaboration is intended to have challenges, especially for industry -wide challenges that are not limited to a professional group. As examples, he cited “Tatrecht and fragmentation through new company societies, respect for specialist unions and real social partnership, lack of personnel, increasing burden and security risks as well as the defense of industry standards”.
Collective negotiations continue to be independent
On request, a VC spokeswoman said that there had already been an exchange on various topics with UFO in the past. This should now be expanded with Allianz on topics in which there is a common concern and similar interests. There are already goals in mind that would now be developed. It is about strategic cooperation, not a merger – the three specialist unions also retain their independence in collective bargaining and other association -specific topics.
