Cellular operators have raised prices for the iPhone by 10-20 thousand rubles

Prices for iPhones in VimpelCom stores went up by 10,000–20,000 rubles on February 26. This was reported to Izvestia by an employee of one of the company’s sales offices.

Also, according to him, the operator raised prices for Samsung smartphones. When asked about the reason for the increase, the interlocutor of Izvestia noted that the management ordered so, although buyers are offered smartphones from a previously purchased batch.

The increase in prices for Apple and Honor smartphones was also announced in the MegaFon communication salon.

Izvestia sent inquiries to the press services of these operators. So, VimpelCom said that in recent days the cost of the iPhone 12, 12 mini, 13 and 13 mini has not changed and is now even lower than it was in January.

“We set prices for devices and accessories based on the purchase price, current demand, the balance of goods in warehouses, and we also focus on the competitive environment. Every day, prices for some goods can rise, for others they can fall, ”the company representative added.

Eldar Murtazin, a leading analyst at Mobile Research Group, spoke about an increase in prices for electronics in Russian retail chains by 10-30% earlier in February. Some of the suppliers have already announced supply restrictions and price revisions – we can expect their growth by 10-30%, a source close to one of the retailers told Izvestia on February 24.

In the DNS retail network, prices increased by up to 30%, its CEO Dmitry Alekseev said in his Facebook account. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia intends to check the validity of such an increase.

In an interview with Izvestia, experts noted that against the backdrop of US sanctions and threats to ban the import of smartphones into the Russian Federation, buyers began to buy gadgets. However, electronics is a bad investment during a crisis: buying it can be a waste of money, experts say.
